Boundary Park may be just a small pond in Surrey, but I’ve come to realize that it can be full of surprises.

The most common birds would be the mallards and American wigeons, and for the longest time, I sort of wrote the pond off since that was all I would see. But over the past year, I’ve seen pied-billed grebes, common mergansers, hooded mergansers, and an osprey that comes by in the summer. The usual small birds, such as song sparrows, golden-crowned sparrows, dark-eyed juncos, and black-capped chickadees hang around, as well as Anna’s hummingbirds and pacific bushtits.

The pond is also a great place to see mallard ducklings, though they tend to not have very many compared to other ponds I’ve visited.
